Globals is a free database from InterSystems. It exposes the underlying sparse multi-dimensional arrays (globals module) to developers. This is the same technology that powers all products based on Caché. Globals, however, does not contain the rich out-of-the box feature-set Caché provides. For example, Globals is not an OODBMS or provide Caché ObjectScript technology.
InterSystems is giving away Globals to:
- Build awareness of the underlying technology that powers our products
- Enable the growth of a larger pool of developers conversant with the benefits of our approach to building successful applications
Using Globals, developers can freely build and deploy applications around InterSystems core technology. Developers are also encouraged join the growing community and contribute to the open source Globals technology APIs.
